The Account Manager is responsible for assisting the broker in maintaining client relationships with a strong emphasis on account retention for the Personal Lines Department.


  • Manage the renewal process including working with brokers and Account Managers to determine steps necessary to retain the account; updating applications
  • Market and negotiate renewal pricing
  • Order policies, preparation of policy books for delivery to clients
  • Maintain accurate and current electronic files
  • Review existing accounts to solicit additional lines of insurance and increase existing coverage and/or rounding out accounts; review nonstandard policies to move to standard program
  • Seek referrals from current client base to solicit for new business prospects
  • Stay abreast of developments in the insurance industry and changes in coverage
  • File documentation and performance of responsibilities with clients and others in a manner that avoids potential errors and omissions.
  • Other duties requested by the broker and/or in accordance with TIS practices which are related to the successful retention and maintenance of client relationships


  • High school equivalency; college degree a plus or related business work experience
  • Knowledgeable of underwriting and rating procedures for all types of personal lines products and companies
  • Minimum 1-2 years related insurance work experience
  • Required license(s), or ability to obtain licenses as required by State Department of Insurance and able to participate in seminars and other training to maintain required license(s)
  • Compliant with applicable laws
  • Strong risk management skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Self-starter, ability to work well independently yet function as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; excellent customer service and organizational skills


  • Job located in a professional office environment routinely uses standard office equipment (computers, phones, copy machines, manuals, filing cabinets, fax machines, etc.)
  • Standing, sitting, bending, stooping, reaching, and occasional lifting/carrying (15 pounds or less)
  • Moderate stress level
  • Prolonged activities: sitting, use of the telephone, speaking, work on a PC/computer
  • Ability to travel periodically to attend conferences or seminars to maintain licenses through continuing education and as needed to meet with clients.
