Position Overview:

The Account Manager is responsible for assisting the broker in maintaining client relationships with a strong emphasis on account retention for the Personal Lines Department.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

Manage the renewal process including working with brokers and Account Managers to determine steps necessary to retain the account; updating applications

Marketing and negotiating renewal pricing

Ordering policies, preparation of policy books for delivery to clients

Maintaining accurate and current electronic files

Review existing accounts to solicit additional lines of insurance and increase existing coverage and/or rounding out accounts; review nonstandard policies to move to standard program

Seek referrals from current client base to solicit for new business prospects

Knowledgeable of underwriting and rating procedures for all types of personal lines products and companies

Compliance with applicable laws; strong risk management skills; stays abreast of changes in coverage; file documentation and performance of responsibilities with clients and others in a manner that avoids potential errors and omissions.

Other duties requested by the broker and/or in accordance with TIS practices which are related to the successful retention and maintenance of client relationships

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

High school equivalency; college degree a plus or related business work experience

Minimum 2-3 years related insurance work experience

Required licenses or ability to obtain licenses as required by State Department of Insurance; ability to participate in seminars and other training to maintain required licenses to stay abreast of developments in the insurance industry

Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Self-starter, ability to work well independently yet function as part of a team

Strong communication and interpersonal skills; excellent customer service and organizational skills

Physical and Environmental Demands:

Job located in a professional office environment - routinely uses standard office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, manuals, filing cabinets and fax machines, etc.)

Standing, sitting, bending, stooping, reaching; occasional lifting/carrying (15 pounds or less)

Moderate stress level

Prolonged activities: sitting, using the telephone, speaking, working on a PC/computer

Ability to travel periodically; attend conferences, seminars to maintain licenses through continuing education
